It lies within the Hautes-Pyrénées department of the Occitanie region, positioned near the prime meridian and overlooked by peaks such as Aneto and Vignemale. The town sits at an elevation of 420 meters, bisected by the fast-flowing Gave de Pau river which originates at Gavarnie.
