Freilassing is a town situated in the southeastern corner of Bavaria, Germany, within the Regierungsbezirk Oberbayern and the Landkreis of Berchtesgadener Land. It lies in the valley formed by the rivers Salzach and Saalach, which merge near the northern part of the settlement. The landscape to the south and east features the Alps rising to altitudes exceeding 2,000 meters, while rolling hills dominate the north and west.
