Gunungkidul is a regency located in the Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta province of Indonesia. It is situated on the southern coast of the island of Java, bordering the Indian Ocean to the south, Pacitan Regency to the west, Wonogiri Regency to the northwest, and Sleman Regency and Bantul Regency to the north and east, respectively. The regency's capital is Wonosari.
