Ravenna is a city and municipality in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy and the capital of the Province of Ravenna. It lies on the eastern side of the region, close to the Adriatic Sea and within the historic area of Romagna. The municipality covers a large territory extending from the historic inland city toward the Adriatic coast, including extensive agricultural areas, pine forests and coastal landscapes.
