Oamaru is the largest town in North Otago, situated on the Pacific coast of New Zealand's South Island. It serves as the main administrative centre for the Waitaki District, which encompasses surrounding settlements such as Kurow, Weston, Palmerston, and Hampden. Geographically, the town lies between rolling limestone hills and a short stretch of flat land leading to the sea, positioned 80 kilometres south of Timaru and 120 kilometres north of Dunedin.
