Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is a self-governing Caribbean archipelago and unincorporated territory of the United States. Located in the Caribbean Sea, it is situated southeast of the mainland of Puerto Rico, between the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island comprises the main island and numerous smaller islands, including Vieques and Culebra. With a population of approximately 3.2 million people, the territory is governed from its capital, San Juan. Its culture is a blend of Spanish, African, and Taíno influences, making it a historically significant crossroads in the Caribbean.
