Rize Merkez is the central district and urban core of Rize Province in northeastern Turkey. Located on the Black Sea coast, the city lies between the sea and the steep, forested mountains of the Eastern Black Sea region. Rize is the provincial capital and the principal administrative, commercial and cultural centre of the surrounding area.
