Operation Polk Around and Find Out (May 01, 2026)
Sheriff Grady Judd briefs the media about a multi-day joint-agency undercover investigation, "Polk Around and Find Out" that focused on human trafficking, child predators, and illegal immigration.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office made 266 total arrests - 247 arrests were related to soliciting prostitutes, offering to commit prostitution, aiding/abetting or transporting prostitutes, and other charges; and 19 arrests were related to child sexual predators.
Sheriff Judd is joined by other agency heads, Sheriffs, and Police Chiefs.
The 127 suspects who travelled to commit prostitution were screened by detectives and the social services organizations to determine if they were being trafficked or exploited by others, and were offered services by the social services organizations at the operation.
During this investigation, seven possible human trafficking victims were identified.
There were 108 suspects arrested for soliciting a prostitute and traveling to the undercover location to negotiate having sex in exchange for money. Two of those suspects brought children to the undercover location and were appropriately charged with child neglect. Twelve (12) other suspects were arrested for aiding/abetting, transporting, or deriving proceeds from prostitutes.

Operation Child Protector VIII (April 29, 2026)
Sheriff Grady Judd briefs the media about a multi-day joint-agency undercover investigation, "Operation Child Protector VIII" that focused on child predators.
Sheriff Judd is joined by Florida's Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia as well as other agency heads, Sheriffs, and Police Chiefs.
Detectives worked with investigators from several different sheriff's offices, police departments, and the Florida Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations Division, resulting in the arrests of 19 suspects, 16 of whom are charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex. Three of those were charged with human trafficking for offering to pay to have sex with a child.
The oldest suspect arrested is 68 years old and well-known in Polk County due to his occupation in marketing for Tri-County Health (he has since been fired) and public appearances throughout the county as Santa Claus.

Deputy-involved shooting - Lakeland (April 8, 2026)
The 10th Judicial Circuit Officer Involved Deadly Incident Task Force is investigating a deputy involved shooting on Socrum Loop Rd W in Lakeland. Sheriff Judd is giving details at the scene.
No deputies were injured and the armed suspect is deceased.

Death investigation - Bartow (March 30, 2026)
Sheriff Grady Judd and Bartow Police Chief Stephen Walker provide updated details of a murder investigation of 56-year old Jeffrey Blevins. Detectives involved in the case have been working non-stop and have made major progress over the weekend.
