Roermond is a city, municipality, and diocese situated in the Limburg province of the Netherlands. It lies on the lower Roer river on the east bank of the Meuse, positioned in the middle of the province which is bordered by the Maas to the west and Germany to the east. The town serves as a historically important commercial centre and was once a principal town in the duchy of Guelders.
