Villa del Gavi Construction

This live construction camera streams from the Villa del Gavi development on Dubai Islands, a major new waterfront district off the Deira coastline in Dubai. Early-stage foundation and groundwork are visible, offering a direct view into the initial phase of what will become a luxury villa community. Dubai Islands, formerly known as Deira Islands, is a group of five artificial islands designed to add more than 20 kilometres of new beachfront. The project forms part of Dubai’s broader expansion strategy, focused on increasing coastal access and supporting large-scale tourism and residential growth. Across the development, plans include hotels, private residences, marinas, and beachside destinations, transforming the area into a major new coastal hub.

Dubai is a cosmopolitan metropolis and global city situated on the southeastern coast of the Persian Gulf within the United Arab Emirates. It serves as the capital of the Emirate of Dubai and functions as the financial center of the nation. The city lies on a creek, forming a vital link in the region's geography while acting as one of the ten most popular tourist destinations worldwide.

Founded in the early 18th century as a pearling and fishing settlement, Dubai evolved into a regional trade hub after declaring itself a free port in 1901. The Maktoum dynasty was established following tribal secession from Abu Dhabi in 1833. Modest oil revenue accelerated development from the 1960s, though the economy diversified significantly by the 1990s, reducing oil's contribution to GDP to less than one percent by 2018.

Rapid construction since the 1990s has created one of the world's densest skylines, featuring the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building globally. Extensive land-reclamation projects have added over 300 kilometers of artificial coastline. The city blends historic merchant districts like Deira and Bur Dubai with modern business centers in Jumeirah and Jebel Ali, symbolized by luxurious hotels and massive shopping malls.

Dubai attracts visitors through its transformation from a desert into a luxurious destination, historically known as a hub for gold trade. It offers insights into Arab pearl diving history alongside futuristic skyscrapers. The city is recognized for its innovative construction projects, sports events, and status as a commercial and cultural hub in the Middle East, drawing global attention for its ambitious development.

As of 2025, Dubai has a population of 3,944,751, with 92 percent being expatriates. Its economy centers on trade, tourism, aviation, financial services, and real estate. Dubai International Airport is the world's busiest for international passenger traffic, handling over 92 million passengers in 2024. The wider urban area includes Sharjah, with a metropolitan population of six million people.
