Also known as
Fort William is a town situated in the Lochaber region of the Scottish Highlands, located on the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe within the Highland Council area. It lies at the southern end of the Great Glen, near the head of this long sea loch where the rivers Nevis and Lochy discharge into the sea. The settlement serves as a major tourist centre and the northern terminus of the West Highland Way, while also marking the start of the Great Glen Way leading to Inverness.
