The Ponquogue Bridge is a 2,812-foot-long (857 m) concrete span crossing Shinnecock Bay in Hampton Bays, New York. Maintained by the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, it carries two lanes of County Route 32 and provides a 55-foot (17 m) vertical clearance above the water. Completed in 1986 at a cost of $14 million, this 29-span structure replaced an older, 1,000-foot-long (300 m) wooden drawbridge from 1930. Portions of that original bridge remain below as a fishing pier, although repeated reconstructions mean little of the 1930s design is still visible.
