Boynton Beach is a city located in Palm Beach County, Florida, within the United States. It sits approximately 57 miles north of Miami and forms part of the Miami metropolitan area. The municipality is positioned north of Delray Beach, south of Hypoluxo and Lantana, and east of Golf. To the east, across the Intracoastal Waterway, lie the municipalities of Briny Breezes, Gulf Stream, Manalapan, and Ocean Ridge.

Native Americans inhabited the region thousands of years ago, with burial mounds containing artifacts dating to roughly 150 BCE. Dexter Hubel arrived in 1877 as the first nonindigenous settler, followed by Nathan Boynton in 1895. Byrd and Fred Dewey filed the plat for the Town of Boynton in 1898, though official incorporation occurred in 1920. The name Boynton Beach was adopted in 1941 after a split from the original town.

The city features significant commercial districts along Congress Avenue south of Gateway Boulevard, including the Boynton Beach Mall and Renaissance Commons. Historical landmarks include the Schoolhouse Children's Museum & Learning Center, housed in a 1913 concrete building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park occupies the site of the original Boynton Hotel and features a boardwalk renovated with ipe wood.

Cultural attractions include the Boynton Woman's Club and various arts facilities that define the local heritage. The area offers a concentration of restaurants and retail stores, drawing visitors to its shopping centers. The Oceanfront Park remains a popular destination for residents and tourists, having been voted the best family beach in Palm Beach County in 2001.

The 2020 census recorded a population of 80,380, making it the third-most populous municipality in Palm Beach County. The economy historically relied on agriculture and dairies before shifting to housing developments. Utility services like electricity and water were established in the early 1920s, and the city continues to serve as a key residential hub in the region.
