Collingwood is a town located in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. It sits on Nottawasaga Bay at the southern point of Georgian Bay. The area was first inhabited by the Petun nation before white settlers arrived in the 1840s. Collingwood was incorporated as a town in 1858 and named after Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood. The town was historically known for shipbuilding and grain shipping, with the Collingwood Shipyards operating until 1986. It holds heritage status through its Conservation District.
The Collingwood Heritage Conservation District surrounds the downtown core and contains 260 properties. Notable landmarks include the historic Tremont House building and the former grain elevator. Creative Simcoe Street features artist studios and galleries. The area also includes the Collingwood Museum and Public Library, reflecting its industrial past and cultural present.
