Budapest, the capital and largest city of Hungary, is located in Central Europe along the Danube River. The city is classified as a global city and a significant cultural, economic, and transportation hub in the region. It is situated in the country's central part, where the Danube River divides into two sections: Buda on the west bank and Pest on the east bank.
Budapest has a rich history dating back to the Roman era, with archaeological evidence showing human habitation in the area since ancient times. The city was officially formed in 1873 through the merger of three cities: Buda, Pest, and Óbuda. Budapest plays a significant role in Hungarian politics, economy, and culture, attracting millions of tourists each year.
