Molde Municipality is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, situated within the traditional district of Romsdal. Located on the Romsdal Peninsula, it surrounds the Fannefjord and Moldefjord. The administrative centre is the city of Molde, which also serves as the county's administrative hub, the commercial center of the region, and the seat of the Diocese of Møre.

Originally a farm by a natural harbour, Molde grew into a timber trading port in the late 16th century with formal trading rights before 1604. It was incorporated as a kjøpstad via royal charter in 1742 and established as an urban municipality on 1 January 1838. Significant territorial expansions occurred through mergers in 1964 and 2020, incorporating parts of Bolsøy, Veøy, Nord-Aukra, Midsund, and Nesset municipalities.

The city lies along the north shore of the Moldefjord, sheltered by Bolsøya and the Molde archipelago. A defining feature is the Molde Panorama, a view of 222 partly snow-clad peaks from Kleneggen mountain, which attracts tourists. The town is nicknamed The City of Roses, a title originating from its late 19th-century fame as an international tourist destination.

Molde hosts the Molde International Jazz Festival and is home to top football team Molde F.K. The semi-official anthem, Moldesangen, shares its tune with the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Historically a center for textile and garment industries, it now focuses on maritime and petroleum activities. The town also serves as Norway's logistics education hub.

The population is 33,291 as of 2026. Molde has a maritime, temperate climate with cool-to-warm summers and mild winters. Access is provided by Molde Airport, the E39 coastal road, and daily Hurtigruten boats. The municipality covers 1,503 square kilometres, making it the 56th largest by area in Norway.
